Jacob Mahaffey is a talented graphic design student at the blooming art program in Anderson University. Recently he was tasked with re-imagining an existing brand. He chose Cannon. Here's what he had to say about his solution: "All ocular devices and those produced by Canon have one similar element, light! Without light a camera, copier or medical imaging machines couldn’t work. After extensive brainstorming of names, I decided to take the name of my company in the path of “light”. I studied different translations of light and capturing light in various languages. One of these translations that really stuck out was the latin phrase Lux which mean “to capture light”. In creating the new tagline, I wanted to encompass the experience customers have when using a Lux (Canon) product. This experience gave inspiration to the new tag line "Capture the moment". Cameras, copier/printers and medical imaging products have a “frame” or “viewfinder". This concept of the viewfinder/frame is the bases for the new Lux logo." Very cool! Take a look at Jacob's visual solution below.
