Rita Carroll: Woodblock Acrylic Paintings

Check out these very graphic acrylic paintings by Rita Carroll. All paintings are painted on wood. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, with Rita's purposely simplistic style, we agree. Check out her work below!

Kait O'Donnell: Visual Explorations of Internal Struggles

Kait O'Donnell: Visual Explorations of Internal Struggles

Talented Philadelphia-based illustrator Kait O'Donnell struggles with what most of us artists struggle with. Who are we? Where are we going? A lot of us turn to art as a means of self-expression from a young age. Without art, our world would be come that of Apokolips (Superman reference). Kait recently confided to me the meaning behind the first piece below entitled In Bloom. "In Bloom is my visual exploration of internal struggles surfacing, when our own feelings and doubt manifest themselves and start to disrupt and destroy what we display to people outwardly. The insect is the witness, attracted to the chaos but unsure to stay or flee." She also cites Christian art, iconography, as well as Surrealists like Dorothea Tanning (an absolutely amazing woman) and Joan Miro as major influences. Kait is part of a collective called Supermurgitroidz. You'll recognize other work in her collective as we've shown some of it off here before. Take a look at Kait's awesome illustration work below, and check out her blog when you have a chance!

Clever Crow Designs: Upcycled Furniture

Clever Crow Designs: Upcycled Furniture

Clever Crow Designs is the recently-launched brainchild of Kathryn Wilkins, a Cornwall, UK-based artist. Kathryn's long creative background has helped her grow Clever Crow Designs, which specializes in hand-painted, upcycled furniture. In order to hone in on a specific style of upcycled furniture, Kathryn decided that each piece should have both vibrant color and something communicative (type, numerals, etc..). These pieces are beautiful, and while the pieces featured below might skew slightly towards a women's taste (and that's not a bad thing), with Katheryn's abilities to craft unique pieces allow her the flexibility to create custom, unique pieces for you. Take a look at the gallery of images below and be sure to check out Kathryn's facebook page and twitter for the latest news on the ever-growing Clever Crow Designs. If you love what you see below, you can purchase your own piece of Clever Crow upcycled furniture through CC's Etsy page.
