Hannah Hardy: Abstract Expressionist Paintings

Hannah Hardy: Abstract Expressionism

Multi-disciplinary, talented mixed-media artist Hannah Hardy write poetry, sings in a band, sculpts, illustrates, and also expresses herself through Abstract Expressionism. Whether artists want to admit it or not we all create with the hope of communication. That is to say, if the things we create connect with other people we feel successful and also feel that the outpouring of emotions each creation represents aren't falling on deaf ears. Hannah uses these pieces as a narrative diary with the hope that each piece communicates a different perception of reality. I once read that there are "two worlds": the actual world in which we live in, and the world in our own minds according to our perspective. Often times our best way to communicate how we see the world is through art. Take a look at Hannah's work below and check out her recent interview!

Matteo Cuccato: Obey The Floating Words Now!

Check out this series of posters by Bolzano, Italy-born artist Matteo Cuccato. This is a series of illustrations called "Floating words." Take note of the combination of type and illustration. Matteo's style would make John Kricfalusi jealous.

Bård Edlund: Franklin The Ladies' Cat

Franklin The Ladies Cat

Bård Edlund's new cartoon series Franklin the Ladies' Cat combines animation with live action. The character is inspired by 1920-1930's cartoon stars like Oswald and Felix, but he's placed in a contemporary world among humans. Franklin is an enterprising cat looking for love in the big city. Despite remarkable tenacity and imagination, his overtures to human women go largely unnoticed -- though that's not how Franklin tells it! Enjoy below.
