Take a look at these absolutely gorgeous images of New York City at a time in history when there was nothing else quite like it.

Engineers at the Chiba Institue of Technology in Japan (where else?) have just revealed their prototype wheelchair that can intuitively climb steps or obstacles. The wheelchair is covered with sensors that help it determine the distance, size, and other variables of the steps or obstacles, while keeping the seat steady and level. It also has the ability to turn it's wheels inline like roller blades and then made tight turns around its center axis. Video below!
