Justin Bernard grew up ten minutes from the beach in Long Island. To say that he knows the surf and the sand would be an understatement. Almost every weekend for three years he documented trips to the beach, shooting roll after roll of film. Obsessed with capturing the same emotion as Caspar David Friedrich was able to in The Monk By The Sea This project is ongoing because life is ongoing. The beaches in the Winter are a no man's land and Justin likes it that way.   Nature begins to take back control of the landscape once people stop visiting the ocean in the fall.
