Avid has just released a brand new NLE editing system with frame-by-frame editing, a host of graphics and transitions, the ability to layer video and audio tracks… and it all takes place on your iPad. Avid Studio for the iPad costs $4.99 and is currently available at the iTunes store. I haven’t tried it out yet, but it seems to have the user-friendliness of iMovie with all the additional tools needed by a professional.
The app is able to import videos from the iPad and iTunes, where they can be trimmed frame-by-frame and added to a timeline for further editing. The projects created in the app can also be imported in to Avid Studio for PC. ‘
While I don’t think I would be able to use the app for my professional services, I do love the idea of touch screen editing!
